It is a sugar substitute with comparable sweetening power as household sugar or sucrose, but with about 40% less calories. Xylitol has a slight cooling effect when dissolved. It is made of wood. The sugar is a fine-grained powder. The maximum grain size is smaller than that of household sugar. Therefore it can also lump without moisture. If you find a clumping, it is very easy to dissolve it again. Birch sugar xylitol from Finland. This birch sugar is also known as “xylitol”. It comes exclusively from European production. Mainly from Finland. The raw material basis for the production is the hardwood of birch and beech. It comes from sustainable forestry. The extraction of xylitol is very costly. In a technically complex process, xylose, or xylitol, is extracted from the wood sugar. This is done by adding water to small pieces of chopped wood. This wood-water mass is then cleaned and filtered until all foreign substances have completely separated from the xylitol. No tree is cut down exclusively for the production of xylitol. Rather, the wood comes from paper production. It is therefore only wood which cannot be used for paper production. The special feature of xylitol is its cariostatic and anticariogenic effect, which has been proven in various clinical studies. Birch sugar has slightly less sweetening power than standard household sugar. It has only a minor effect on the blood sugar level. It is therefore also very suitable for diabetics and is not recommended for children under the age of 3. But adults should also switch to this sugar only slowly. Excessive consumption of xylitol can have a laxative effect. Animals should not get xylitol.
Differences between this xylitol and cheap e.g. from China.
Although both are almost identical in appearance and taste, the following environmental factors speak in favour of this birch sugar “xylitol”. CO² emissions are 90% lower. Energy consumption is 85% lower and soil and water pollution 94-99% lower. In addition, maize is used as the raw material for “China xylitol”. My product is made exclusively from wood or the xylose it contains, from which the xylitol is then extracted.
Use birch sugar for all foods, pastries and drinks. Dosage in a ratio of 1:1 to normal household sugar. This xylitol is not certified organic.
